Day 13: Kakuli Camp South Luangwas National Park.

Writer's picture: Piet FaurePiet Faure

Staying in a bush camp it is a case of repeat business and so it was for Day 13.

A long early morning bush walk was really enjoyed. We walk from about 06h45 to 10h30 with a tea break in between. As we were about 8 kms from camp a vehicle was summoned and we were taken back to camp.

The lunch was, as usual superb. It is amazing what the cooks can do in the middle of the bush. Supplies only come once a week, so careful thought has to go into the cooking.

The afternoon game drive started off innocently enough, but at sundowner time we were taken to the river bank where a semi feast had been laid out for us. Drinks, snacks even freshly made popcorn was on offer. We watched the sun go down, a special time. It did not matter after the special treat that the game drive did not produce any fire works.

Oh my word- what an incredible sunset. What time does the sun rise if you guys are getting up so early? Also, the food sounds great- what sort of meals are these chefs cooking up? Sounds really cool 😀
